The Civil Rights Team challenges you to promote awareness about human rights and discuss the issues that vulnerable groups of people experience every day.

"Please use your freedom to promote ours."

To recognize human rights, we will be initiating a fun activity which will take place next Tuesday.

Post-it notes will be posted throughout the the school, each containing one fact or statistic concerning human rights. Each post-it will be numbered.

Students throughout the day will take one fact and hold it until the conclusion of the day. Tuesday afternoon a drawing will be held of a specific single number. Thank You Veterans!!

Today we will be having our annual Veteran's Day Ceremony at 1:00 pm.  Attendance is mandatory at this assembly as it is for any school activity. We will be dismissing everyone back to their advisory groups at 12:50 to talk about the importance of today';s assembly and what behaviors are expected for a ceremony such as this. You will be sitting as advisor groups and the advisor will be taking attendance at the assembly. Seniors with Senior Privileges are not required to be here however, if you are not committed to another activity we certainly encourage you to attend. On the brink of adulthood it would certainly be the adult thing to do. Many students and staff have put a lot of work into it and we have many veterans planning on attending, it would be awesome to show our community how much we care.

Gold 2 Day - ADVISORY  - READING FOR LIFE DAY

During the second quarter the Thursday SPARK activity will be READING for LIFE. I sent an email out all regarding this yesterday. You need to report to your SPARK room and be prepared to read for 30 minutes. Research is clear about how beneficial it is to read. It build fluency, vocabulary, general knowledge and literacy proficiency. We allow any type of reading but it may not be on a screen of any sort. ALL reading must be done with books magazines texts manuals etc in paper and ink. All teachers have been asked to do the same and we as a whole school will be collectively reading for the entire quarter. We are now going on the three lunch schedule for Thursday's as well. So we will be using the same lunch schedule as we do for Monday - Wednesday for Thursday's as well.

We do have one exception and it will be the only one we allow during the Reading for life period. But due to the weeatehr last week the AMC group and the Jr. Maine guide group is meeting out near the HS field Hockey field for their Guide Dinner activity. The cooking group is not coming today as originally planned as Mr. Bitetti is not here. Those students in Jr. Maine Guide and AMC need to eat first lunch and then scoot on out right after.

Flag Football permission slips are due at the end of the day today. If you intend to go you must have the form in TODAY!!! Mr. Keane needs to send the list to UMAINE by the end of the day.

Don't forget that if you drive a vehicle to school you need to get a permit in the office.

Lunch today is Pizza

Quote of the day is a Historical one about this day in history

Remember, remember!
    The fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder treason and plot;
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot!
    Guy Fawkes and his companions
    Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
    All up alive.
    Threescore barrels, laid below,
    To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
    A stick and a stake
    For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
    I'll take two,
    The better for me,
    And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
    Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Gold 1 Day- Advisory

Good Luck to our Juniors and Sophomores taking their PSAT today. This test is an important predictor for how well a student would do with the SAT. This is a test that juniors and seniors take that gives college information about how well they have achieved in their academics over their k-12 schooling. High SAT scores help students get into the colleges that they want to attend.

Read Dr. Bartley's Announcements

Best of luck to the HS Boys soccer team today as they travel to Fort Kent for a quarter final match against the Warriors of the county. The soccer team is dismissed at 9:40 today. Teachers please let these athletes go at this time. We will not be making that announcement due to testing.  SOCCER players, you must enter the locker room from the hallway and not the gym. Do not interrupt PSAT testing when you get your equipment for the game!

Safe travels today for the second half of the seventh grade as they journey down to the Challenger center in Bangor today.

Flag Football today

Tomorrow the jr maine guide Pirate Special is hosting a game sampler cooking event for the cooking PS and the AMC PS. If you are a student in these two PS you must eat first lunch and then report to the south end of the HS Field Hockey team after you eat. At this time the weather is not looking good, however, we need to have any student who was intending on bringing in some meat for the event to still do that. We will keep the meat in the freezer here at PCSS and look to a time where we can reschedule. If we can not reschedule we will let people know to bring their game home.

Lunch today is a Meatball Sub

hours depending on your ability to dodge moose, deer, bear, turkeys and very large logging trucks at high speeds.

Gold 1 Day - Pirate Specials

We are eating the two lunch schedule today. Remember the bells are off so please proceed to lunch at the end of Period 3 if your Pirate special dictates that. First lunch ends at 11:53 and the second lunch is at 12:03. Second lunch ends at 12:28.

A correction of the record on our semi final bound HS field Hockey team:

The last time the  field hockey team went to the Quarterfinals was in 2012, when the current group of seniors were Freshmen.

The last time the PCHS Field Hockey  went to a semifinal game was in 2006, when they beat Winthrop in the quarterfinals 4-2.  That team went on to play Stearns in the Semi's, but lost 1-0.   Stearns won the Eastern Maine Championship that year.

The #10 seeded PCHS boys soccer team will travel to #7 Limestone on Saturday for their Northern Maine Class C preliminary game. Game time 2:00. They will depart from PCHS at 9:00.
