Next Teen Science Cafe!

Next Teen Science Cafe event.

It will be held at Dexter Regional High School on Thursday, Feb 26th from 6 to 8pm. There will be food, fun and hands on activities. We are doing something NEW this time...we are having a panel of local experts who will all address the idea of Sustainable Agriculture and what it means to them in the work that they currently do. 
The panel is composed of 6 - 7 individuals who will be split into 4 break out sessions to talk in more detail about the work that they do and how it relates to sustainable agriculture. The topics include: GMO's and plant breeding, small scale high diversity sustainable farming, Dairy farming and biomass digester (energy and engineering tie-in), and adaptive management/ecosystem services.  All speakers are local farmers already or are studying agriculture at the University of Maine Orono.

Senior announcement

Please announce the following:

There will be a Project Graduation Meeting on Tuesday, February 24th at 6:30 PM. it will be held in the Cafe.  It is important that all seniors going on the trip try to attend  this meeting . We will be finalizing the trip and going over future fundraisers. 



Also please announce: several times a week until the event

Project graduation will be having  Pro-Wrestling event here at the school on March 7th at 7:30 PM.   There will also be ,The human hammerhead, there to break several world"s records.  Tickets can  be bought in advance for $8 in the school office.

Chorus Success!




Yes!  We submitted our audition video today and we have been accepted to sing both our National Anthem and O' Canada at The Portland Pirates hockey game on Wednesday, March 25 in Portland, ME.  Congratulations and thanks to all our chorus students, staff (especially Middle School staff who allowed the students out of class to do the video yesterday) who are participating in this historic event!

Gold Day

Today is an early release day.

The schedule for HS

High School Students need to report to their first period class this morning for attendance and then students will be called for the gym.

The schedule for MS

Student will gp through a shortened schedule. The bells will be turned off and teachers will dismiss students to the next class.

No one goes outside today unless they are drressed accordingly. The wind chill factor has the temo at 20 below. At this temperature students who have exposed skin stand a good chance for frostbite.

Blue Day

Today is Decades day Once again we will do the count at lunch.

We have the talent show this afternoon. Please do not send anyone to the gym until we give the announcement that we are ready.


Last call for the Fan bus is today. If you want to use it please come to the office and sign up.

Students in grades 9-12 interested in playing indoor soccer or volleyball have just today and toto sign up.  Teams need to be chosen by Friday in order to make the teams.  All games start after vacation.

Winter Carnival

Mr. Gaw will have the up to date results at the talent show today which will begin at around 1:00.

The number of participants in the talent show has increased quite a bit in the last day. If we don't have enough time for the skits today we may move them to tomorrow.


TOURNEY TIME
Make sure you sign up for the fan bus today if you want a free ride to Bangor. Make sure you grab a permission slip as well. The bus will leave at 8:00am on Tuesday.

Teens For Jeans

Hello,

We are nearing the deadline for the Teens for Jeans campaign. Bring in
any type of denim jeans (it doesn't matter if it has holes or it is
ripped) all the jeans will be recycled to be made into new ones and
given to homeless youth. All jeans must be in by this Friday the 13th
and they can be dropped off in Mrs. Doherty's room. The jeans don't
have to be specifically for jeans they can be any age group.

Gold Day

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th graders who attended the Squaw Mountain ski program last Friday. All students did a great job and demonstrate those qualities that PCSS is all about. Initiative, Persistence, Kindness and patience were all the words that the Squaw mountain staff said about our 7th and 8th graders.
